At St Mary’s we recognise the importance of prayer and spirituality and so these form part of our regular pattern of worship.

Churches Together in Ewell 24/7 week of Prayer

Each of these resources is available for anyone to use if they wish, but there is no compulsion should you prefer not to use them. Our aim is to provide you with the support that you would like in your times of need, and the prayer and healing can be for a colleague, a loved one or for yourself.

O Lord
Open our eyes to your presence
Open our minds to your grace
Open our lips to your praises
Open our hearts to your love
Open our hearts to your healing
And be found among us. Amen.

The following list describes the resources that are available at present at St Mary’s and the contact telephone numbers and other details are given on the back of this leaflet.

Prayer Calendar

Copies of our monthly prayer calendar are available on the table at the back of church. Each of the roads in the parish is selected for prayer on a particular day of the month together with groups and organisations in our church and in the surrounding community.

Please help yourself to a copy from the back of church. The prayer calendar is also on this website.

Prayer Group

On two Fridays each month this group meets to pray for the needs of the church, our neighbourhood, our country and the world and for personal needs in confidence.

Meetings are at the Vicarage at 10.30am on the dates shown in the pew notices. Further details can be obtained from Suzy.

Prayer Lists

There is a list on the lectern at the back of church where names can be added for urgent prayer. These are then used during our regular Sunday services.

There is a book on the altar in the side chapel where names can be added for prayer and these are used during our weekday Morning Prayer services.

Feel free to add names to either of the lists, but do please add your own name and the date so that we can keep the lists accurate.

Prayer Chain

Urgent prayer requests can be passed down a chain of people who are prepared to pray immediately for those needs. The prayer support continues for a week after the request is made.

Please phone either Suzy or Helen. There is no need to go into great detail; simply a name or a short request can be used as a focus for prayer.

Any details of the needs that you choose to share are understood to be in complete confidence.

The names of those on the prayer lists are shared with the rest of the congregation for their prayer support too.

Listening

After every 10am Sunday service two people are available in the side chapel to listen in confidence and to pray with you if you so wish. Other members of the listening team are available within the body of the church ready and willing to provide the same service there if you prefer.

Healing Services

Approximately 4 times a year prayer for healing with the laying on of hands is available as part of the 10am Family Communion service.

The dates of these are publicised in the church pew notices and the magazine (The Window) a few weeks beforehand.

Morning Prayer

Each weekday morning a short act of worship is held in the side chapel using a modern language form of Morning Prayer.

This takes place in the side chapel at 9am every Monday to Thursday and at 8.40am on Fridays.
